About Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum

We are Surrey’s first Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) advocacy and representation body, Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum. Through the Forum we aim to share best practice, voice concerns and influence services and policies, both locally and nationally.

The Forum was developed and is currently managed by Surrey Community Action. In summer 2009 Surrey Community Action received a £495,430 grant from the Big Lottery Fund to undertake a project entitled ‘Bridging The Gap’. Development of an active and influential BAME Forum for Surrey is the primary aim of this project.

Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum was launched in October 2009 with more than 15 groups already signed up. A significant number of BAME community and voluntary groups are active in Surrey and we hope to engage with as many of them as we can in order to strengthen our representation across the county. New members will always be welcomed to the Forum.

The Forum meets at least twice per year. At these events we can: raise issues affecting our work, receive training, share best practice, hear talks, debate, network with other groups and with associates of the Forum. See the Calendar for forthcoming meetings.

Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum provides access to services for its members, such as funding advice, training, marketing support and more. See Services For Members for the full list.
