Supporting Surrey’s
ethnically diverse
communities
We work with communities, organisations and public services to tackle inequality, improve wellbeing and ensure minority ethnic voices are heard.
What We Do
Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum (SMEF) supports and represents the needs and aspirations of a growing 23.4% ethnic minority population in Surrey.
We provide support for over 60 grassroot community groups, build relationships between faith groups, and run projects to help ethnic minority groups across the county.
How Can We Help?
Find the support or information that’s right for you.
At SMEF, our mission revolves around enhancing the lives of people from ethnic minority communities in and around Surrey, by actively addressing racial inequality within our public services and local communities. We align our efforts with the Equality and Human Rights Commission's five key focus areas, which include employment, education, crime, living standards, and health and care.
Through localised research, we gain deeper insights into the unique challenges, needs, and aspirations of Surrey's diverse communities. Collaborating with partners such as the NHS, Surrey Police, local authorities, businesses, and charities, we strive to enhance services and create opportunities that contribute to a more equitable and just society.
