Mental Health Outreach & Engagement
Bridging the gap in mental health access for minoritised communities in Surrey
The SMEF Mental Health Outreach & Engagement Project (in partnership with the Independent Mental Health Network) tackled the inequalities in mental health care faced by Surrey’s minoritised communities. Through co-production, outreach and advocacy, the project amplified community voices, reduced stigma and improved access to culturally sensitive mental health support.
SMEF works with the Surrey Coalition of Disabled People and the Independent Mental Health Network to amplify the voices of ethnic minority communities in shaping mental health services. Through stakeholder groups, faith leaders and community partnerships, we bring lived experience directly into decision-making and create culturally sensitive solutions that improve access and outcomes.
Our goal is simple: build trust, break stigma, and ensure mental health services in Surrey reflect the needs of all communities.
